We’re creating sign up links to supporting during morning recess from 9:50 AM to 10:20 AM but welcome volunteers at any recess.

You can also join our Facebook group to stay updated on Track Stars activities.

Thank you for your help and participation in this healthy, active, and fun program!

Track Stars is a PTA sponsored activity to show our students that exercise and having healthy habits can be fun. In the past, these laps were limited to morning recess three times per week and tracked by an app that scans the QR code on each child’s individual card.

This year, we’ll keep doing that and working to allow the kids to track their own laps at any recess.

5 Laps = 1 miles

131 Laps = 26.2 Miles

If student complete 26 laps on average per month they’ll reach a marathon by mid-May.

We’re excited to kick off the program year and welcome volunteer support to help track our students during Morning Recess (9:50 to 10:20 AM) via Sign Up Genius AND we are working on a plan to allow students to track their own laps and report their progress from any recess.

Overall, we just are looking for support as the kids really enjoy the fun of tracking their progress and all students can participate by running, walking, or rolling along!

TrackStar Awards for 2023-2024

  • TrackStars Medals: Any student that completes 10 laps earns a Custom Boston Harbor TrackStars Medal and Lanyard.
  • Returning Students: Students that have already earned a medal during last year’s program won’t get a 2nd medal but will have a chance to win prizes in our weekly raffle and be eligible for upcoming pizza parties and other exciting awards.
  • Weekly Raffle: Each student will earn a raffle entry for each lap they run during a given week and a winner will be randomly selected and announced each Monday.
  • Anchor Awards: We’ll announce and track weekly awards for most miles by an individual as well as by class and announce the award on Monday.
  • Capital City Goal: If 50% of BHS students reach the annual goal of 26.2 miles (~2,200 total miles) before the Capital City Marathon in May. We’ll host a pizza party for the whole school in May/June.

This year we’ve discussed organizing some fun runs for the whole family with 5K around the field and school trail and even a Polar Plunge 5K on New Year’s Day.

Seeing the excitement in the students as they achieve goals, exercise, and get those wiggles out makes it so much fun for everyone! If you’re interested in volunteering please sign-up for a time that works for you! If you can commit to a specific day and time each week, please feel free to sign-up for multiple spots.

Kids that participated and earned a new TrackStars medal in 2022-2023 will not earn a 2nd medal but rather will have their total number of laps added to a raffle each week and month for prizes.

Stay tuned, and thanks in advance!
