HOUSE BILL 1244

WA State HB 1244, if approved, will increase the maximum per pupil limit for enrichment levy authority. The passage of this bill will dramatically reduce OSDs predicted budget deficit for 2022-2023. This bill is currently in the House Rules committee which means it needs to be voted upon by the committee in order to move on in the process. If not, the bill is stopped. Please email the committee members ASAP as the bill has to be voted in by Wednesday 3/8 (5 pm).

We’re making it simple for you to email each member of the House Rules committee THIS WEEKEND to ask them to bring this bill for a vote. It’s a strong message to email the 24 members of the House Rules Committee (and their legal aides) individually instead of a mass email, but with our template emails it should only take you 5-10 minutes. (BH Community members, please note that the template was created with school parents in mind, so please adjust wording accordingly. Template wording can be found at the bottom of this page in case the links aren’t working for you.)

The Committee Chair is the Speaker of the House Rep. Laurie Jinkins.  The Minority Leader is Rep. J.T. Wilcox.  They are particularly important to contact as they are likely leading/meeting with their caucuses to determine how each member use their pulls to determine which bills move forward to get voted on. Thank you Boston Harbor Community!
