January PTA Meeting
Please join us for this month's PTA meeting on Wednesday, January 9th @ 6:00 p.m.
Pacific Science Center Assembly
You're also welcome to join us Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. for our Pacific Science Center assembly. We have workshops and exhibits all day long thanks to the generous support of our PTA. We still need one adult in the morning and one in the afternoon on the 10th to hang out in the gym and monitor the exhibits as classes visit. It's fun and easy! If you have volunteer clearance through the district and can help, please email ewilson@osd.wednet.edu.
2nd Annual STEAM Family Night
We’re celebrating STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) January 9th-10th at Boston HarborElementary School! Do you have a special STEAM-related skill, passion or vocation to share with BHES kids in the afternoon on January 9th? Can you plan an engaging 20-25 minute presentation with lots of visuals (and maybe even some hands-on items) about how you use STEAM in your life/work? Our assembly, workshops and evening event the following day have a math focus so we're particularly interested in the ways you use MATH in your everyday work. You would share your presentation three times with three groups of K-2 kids or three groups of 3-5 kids. Teachers stay with the students to help out. We also have a Signup Genius link with additional ways to help: https://bit.ly/2PQhZf7 Please let us know if you’re interested by Friday, December 7th! We want to expose kids to some fun STEAM jobs and skills (with an emphasis on MATH!). Questions? Ready to join the fun? This was one of the favorite highlights of our activities last year so we're eager to do it again! Email Beth Wilson (ewilson@osd.wednet.edu). Looking for other ways to help? We have a wish list for our upcoming STEAM Family Night activities, on January 10th. Visit our Amazon list here: http://a.co/9Qor8Cf (Be sure to designate the BHES PTA as your Amazon Smile recipient with your Amazon orders for a win-win for our school).
