Track Stars

Track Stars is a PTA sponsored activity to show our students that exercise and having healthy habits can be fun. We’re working on sign up links for supporting morning recess from 9:50 AM to 10:20 AM but welcome volunteers at any recess. No experience needed!

Volunteers will download an app on their phone and as students complete a lap, you scan their individual badge to track the number of laps they complete. The kids really enjoy the fun of tracking their progress and all students can participate by running, walking, or rolling along!

We need volunteers to help scan cards to track laps for the kid.

You can also join our Facebook group to stay updated on Track Stars activities.

Thank you for your help! Seeing the excitement in the students as they achieve goals, exercise, and get those wiggles out makes it so much fun for everyone! If you’re interested in volunteering please sign-up for a time that works for you! If you can commit to a specific day and time each week, please feel free to sign-up for multiple spots.

5 Laps = 1 miles

131 Laps = 26.2 Miles

If a student completes 26 laps on average per month they’ll reach a marathon by mid-May.

TrackStar Awards

  1. TrackStars Medals: Any student that completes their first 10 laps earns a Custom Boston Harbor TrackStars Medal and Lanyard. Only eligible for new participants.
  2. Returning Students: Students that have already earned a medal during last year’s program won’t get a 2nd medal but will have a chance to win prizes in our weekly raffle and be eligible for upcoming pizza parties and other exciting awards.
  3. Raffles: Student will earn raffle entries for each lap they run during a given month and a random winner will be randomly selected and announced each month.
  4. Anchor Awards: We’ll announce and track monthly awards for most miles by an individual as well as by class and announce the award once per month.
  5. Capital City Goal: If 50% of BHS students reach the annual goal of 26.2 miles (~2,200 total miles) before the Capital City Marathon in May. We’ll host a pizza party for the whole school in May/June.

In the past, we’ve discussed organizing some fun runs for the whole family with 5K around the field and school trail and even a Polar Plunge 5K on New Year’s Day. If this is something you’re interested in helping organizing, please reach out to PTA@bhspta.org so you can join our activities planning committee.

Stay tuned, and thanks in advance!
